A few questions.
What is Poppot?
Poppot is an astronomy learning app for recognizing constellations and stars. It combines guided lessons, interactive exercises, a 3D sky map and private quizzes with friends. Children and adults can practise at their own pace, without a telescope.
Can I point my phone at the sky?
Yes. On a compatible phone or tablet, open Explore and enable tracking. The sky map follows the direction of your device so you can find the stars and constellations in front of you. It uses your orientation, location and the time; it does not recognize stars from a photo. If tracking is unavailable, you can still explore the map by touch.
How can I learn to recognize constellations?
Start by spotting a few bright stars, then connect them into a shape. Practise finding that shape without help and revisit it later. Poppot guides you through these steps with interactive exercises, then lets you look for the constellation in a simulated sky.
Is this for beginners?
Yes. Learn to recognize the constellations through guided practice. You don’t need a telescope or any astronomy knowledge.
Can I see all 88 constellations from home?
The course covers both hemispheres. What you can see outside depends on your latitude, the season and the time of night. You can practise on the simulated sky whenever you like.
Is Poppot suitable for children?
Poppot is designed for curious children and adults. Around age 8 is our starting recommendation, with a grown-up nearby for reading or trickier ideas. We’re still testing independent use with children before launch.
What’s included with Solo and Family?
Both unlock the complete course, personalized reviews and hosting private quizzes. Solo is for one learner. Family gives up to six people their own progress. Invited friends join quizzes free. Orion, Taurus, Canis Major and the complete Explore map are free for everyone.
Is it really a one-time purchase?
Yes, with no subscription. The final price and conditions will be shown at checkout when the app launches. Family is a separate purchase at full price, with no automatic credit for a previous Solo purchase.
Can I learn offline?
Downloaded lessons and reviews work offline. New downloads, account synchronization, purchases and live quizzes need an internet connection.
Is Poppot available on mobile?
Poppot is available on Android through Google Play. The iOS app is coming soon. See how learning works in the animated preview on this page. Lessons are available in English, French and Spanish.
